🌿 a journal entry

Where the Hell Have I Been?

June 30, 2026

If you’ve been wondering why it’s been so quiet around here lately, first of all… thank you for noticing.

I owe this little corner of the internet an apology.

I haven’t written a blog post. I haven’t made a journal entry. I haven’t even uploaded my latest photography session, which, by the way, is an absolutely precious newborn shoot that deserves to see the light of day. My website has been sitting there patiently waiting for me while life decided to hit the gas pedal.

Between traveling to Louisiana, bringing home the incredible truck my dad gifted me, preparing for one of the biggest moves of our lives this week, and my health deciding now would be a fantastic time to take a complete nosedive, I simply haven’t had anything left to give.

My Discord server i was so excited to create? Poor baby. Unless you count my son uploading a picture of one of our cats, it’s been just as neglected as everything else.

These days I’m so exhausted and run down that getting out of bed feels like an accomplishment. Thankfully I’ve recently been forced to work from bed anyway, so at least fate and my body are finally in agreement about something.

The move itself?

Let’s just say what should have been exciting has turned into something much closer to a disaster movie. I’m hanging on by a thread. One hurdle after another. Delays. Stress. Unexpected problems. The kind of stuff that makes you wonder if the universe misplaced your file under “Let’s Test Their Patience.”

But we’re still moving forward.

One box at a time.

One problem at a time.

One painfully exhausted day at a time.

Something else has been weighing on me.

I still haven’t made my Facebook post about stepping away from the platform. It’s mostly written already, but sitting in my notepad.

Ironically, everything that’s happened lately has only convinced me more that it’s the right decision.

When you’re going through some of the biggest moments of your life, you notice who celebrates with you… and who simply scrolls past.

I’m not asking for applause. I’m certainly not asking people to read every word I write. But when fewer than a third of the people who supposedly call themselves my friends can spare a fraction of a second to acknowledge milestones I’ve chosen to share, it says something. Maybe not about me.

Maybe about the platform.

Maybe about all of us.

Once this move is finally complete, I’ll post one last update: us standing in front of our first home with the keys in our hands. That moment deserves to be documented.

After that…

I’m done.

Not because I’m angry.

Not because I’m looking for anyone to beg me to stay.

Quite honestly, I expect the usual handful of people to tell me they’ll miss my posts. The funny part is they’ll mostly be the same people who never seemed interested enough to tap a Like button while I was actually posting them.

Actions have always spoken louder than comments made after someone’s already walking away.

Facebook has become exhausting.

The endless self-absorption.

The nonstop political throat-cramming from every direction.

The constant pressure to perform for an algorithm instead of connecting with actual human beings.

And don’t even get me started on the ads.

I’m well past believing it’s coincidence when I have a verbal conversation about something and, moments later, advertisements magically appear for that exact topic. If someone wants to pretend that’s perfectly normal, they’re welcome to. If you’re comfortable living in that world, you do you.

I’m not.

I have enough happening in my life without voluntarily adding another source of noise, drama, surveillance, and emotional exhaustion.

The people who genuinely want to know what I’m up to already know where to find me.

Here.

On my website.

On YouTube.

On Bluesky.

On Instagram.

Soon, in Discord once I finally have enough energy to give that community the attention it deserves.

Those places feel like conversations instead of competitions.

And right now, that’s exactly what I need.

So if things stay a little quiet for another week or two, know that I’m probably buried under moving boxes, trying to keep my body functioning, unpacking a new chapter of life, and reminding myself that this chaos is temporary.

The words, the photos, the fish updates, the adventures, and the stories aren’t gone.

They’re just waiting for me on the other side of this move.

And honestly…

So am I.
